1. What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small files the browser stores when you visit a website. There is also local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage), which works in a similar way but is not sent to the server. Article 22.2 of the Spanish LSSI applies to both.

This site only uses technical items or items you request, which do not require consent. There are no analytics, advertising or social media cookies: website analytics are computed on the server without storing anything in your browser.

2. Our cookies

The public website sets no cookies. Only the internal panel (committee and organisers) uses one:

NameTypePurposeDuration
iaton_comiteTechnical session cookieKeeps you signed in to the panel. HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax and Secure over HTTPS.Until you close the browser. The session expires on the server after 2 hours of inactivity or 12 hours after sign-in.

3. Local storage (not cookies)

Our own keys that may be stored in your browser. None of them identifies you or is used to count visits:

KeyStoragePurposeDuration
iaton-langlocalStorageRemembers the language you choose with the selector.Until deleted
iaton-metrica-offlocalStorageRemembers that you turned analytics off in this browser (only if you choose to).Until deleted or analytics are turned back on
iaton-a11ylocalStorageRemembers that you turned on the accessibility widget, so it loads again on later visits (only if you press it).Until deleted

Earlier versions of the website stored analytics identifiers (iaton-metrica-v, iaton-metrica-s and iaton-utm); they are now deleted automatically when you visit the website.

4. Third-party services

None of these services loads when you open the website: only when you press the corresponding button.

Avatar chat (Kawaru Channels / Nebomind and LiveAvatar): loads when you press the chat button (bottom right). It stores in localStorage a copy of the last 50 messages of the conversation (nebomind-chat:iaton-liveavatar:<language>:messages) and the window size (nebomind-chat:iaton-liveavatar:<language>:size) and, if the channel requires private access, a token in sessionStorage (nebomind-user:iaton-liveavatar). It only asks for microphone permission if you turn on voice. It sets no cookies. If you turn on the avatar, software is downloaded from cdn.jsdelivr.net and it connects to api.liveavatar.com (United States).

Accessibility widget (BeMyVega): loads when you press the accessibility button (bottom left). When it loads it stores its settings and your preferences in localStorage under keys starting with bmv_, and requests fonts from Google Fonts and CDNFonts (and cursors from Nagich if you choose them); those providers receive your IP address. It sets no cookies and the provider’s analytics are turned off.

Google Maps: only loads if you press “Load the interactive map”. At that point Google may set its own cookies. Links to Google Maps and Google Calendar open in a new tab, on Google’s site.

There are no embedded videos, advertising pixels or social media buttons.

5. How to manage them

You can delete or block cookies and local storage (“site data”) in your browser:

If you block the session cookie, you will not be able to access the panel. If you delete the site data, the website will forget your chosen language and, if you had turned it on, the accessibility widget and its preferences.
